Today, I prioritized the children’s safety, health, well-being, and wellness by engaging in practices that promoted their physical and emotional health. I ensured that the environment was safe by conducting safety checks of the play area and removing any potential hazards. In addition, I applied it by setting up activities to teach about dentist hygiene. I also discuss with children what food is good and bad for the teeth. We also reviewed the emotions and feelings lesson which we learnt last week. This day reinforced the significance of creating a supportive environment that nurtures all aspects of a child’s wellbeing.
Today reflection was all about playing with children and create opportunities for playful learning. Through 16 days of my placement, I have done several activities set ups, each activity was designed to stimulate different areas of development.
I joined the children in their play, taking on roles in their imaginative games and participating in their explorations. For example, in the sensory play area, I encouraged the children to explore different textures and materials, asking open-ended questions to guide their thinking and creativity. In the imaginative play area, I joined the children in a pretend cooking activity, where we "cooked" various dishes and shared stories about our favorited foods.
Taking play as a tool for learning and development, I was able to support children’s all development domains in the way that felt natural and enjoyable for them.
